ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

responsible for the operation of:
- two 350 HP combination wood and oil fired HRT high pressure steam boilers
- one oil fired 300 HP Cleaver Brooks Scotch Marine high pressure steam boiler
- four feed water pumps
- three oil pumps
- five chemical pumps, and all associated auxiliary equipment
*work on a rotating schedule which includes weekends and holidays
perform critical duties during emergency evacuations and other safety related tasks
perform miscellaneous duties as necessary
follow safe work practices
support LEAN, safety, sustainability, and environmental initiatives

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

must have a high school diploma or equivalent
must possess a State of Maine high pressure boiler operator license or ability to obtain within 6 months
*must be able to work overtime as needed
basic understanding of boiler chemicals and their use
must be dependable, punctual, and adhere to attendance policy
ability to operate skid steer equipment
must have strong attention to detail
must adhere to all company policies and procedures
ability to work in confined space
must be able to work without supervision and use sound judgment
basic computer skills necessary
must be cooperative and willing to learn new responsibilities

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

experience in automatic wood boilers desirable
boiler and fire room operations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds
frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping and crouching
must have visual acuity and manual dexterity
the ability to wear a filtering face piece (dust mask) as needed
must be able and willing to climb stairs and ladders
must be able to work in varying temperatures within manufacturing areas
